I don't have any of that expensive MIG or TIG equipment. All I have is a basic stick that I wanna use for simple jobs. Plus, it's quite handy for small fixes like brackets and holders, right? Very quick to work with as well. Since I'm doing DIY and it's not really a contract job or a business or something, I want to ask if basic stick welding would work on aluminum. Would it? I don't still need shielding gas, right?

I wouldn't call it impossible, but it's not the best technique. A mig welder with an aluminum spoon will do a much better job

You can actually weld aluminum using a technique called stick welding. For this method, you would use special rods, such as the flux-coated E4043 rods, and you won't need any gas. Be aware that this process can be a bit messy and challenging to get just right. It is most effective on thicker aluminum materials. Despite these challenges, it's quite handy for tasks like attaching brackets or making small repairs to aluminum items. To get the best results, make sure to thoroughly clean the aluminum surface before you begin welding
