My bro was talking about dual shield welding yesterday, which has me scratching my head. Idk why we need it
so, if we're using gas with dual shield, it seems like we'd still have that whole "wind blowing the gas away" thing, just like regular MIG.
Dual shield still has some slag to clean up, even if it's not as much as with flux core.
if you're welding where the wind isn't a pain, what's the big deal with dual shield over just plain old MIG? It feels like it should be simpler with regular MIG indoors, right?
Plus, isn't that dual shield wire pricier, and then you've got the gas cost on top of that?
Lastly, it seems like if you're ditching stick welding, flux core is the only way to go when you're dealing with wind outside.
Where am I totally missing the point with all this? It just doesn't seem to add up!
