where do you get your transformer oil?

also what brands have you tried? we have this old arc welder buried at the storage room, and my brother in law thinks it just needs new oil. it is not working or starting at all. appreciate all input and suggestions!

You can find oil at electrical wholesalers, supply stores or online sites like amazon, grainger and zoro. But, you need to be careful when buying, you need to get the dielectic transformer oil that's non pcb and it meets the standards like ASTM D3487. For brands you can try the eneos, ergon hywolt and shell diala.

I usually get mine from this local electrical supply shop around the corner since they cater to the needs of utility contractors. Whatever it is, make sure it's listed as non-PCB and rated for dielectric use or you could end up doing more harm than good.

I've used Shell Diala and Mobil Univolt. Easy to find in the U.S. and Canada through electrical supply shops or distributors

Just grabbing random transformer oil is risky cause not all brands work the same, and some can damage your welder
