Plugging a Clarke 151TE correctly

My friend just got a MIG welder (Clarke 151TE) Looks like it got all the bits and pieces he need to start a beginner project.
But he’s confused about plugging it in cause it doesn't have a regular plug, and the manual says it needs 15 amps.

I’m thinking to help him, I wonder if there's any way I can sneakily use a normal 13 amp socket, like the one in the kitchen, if I just turn the welder down to a lower setting? Or does it not work like that?

He also needs to run a cable from inside the house out to the workspace in the garden. What kind of cable should he get for that?

I got one of those extension reels with a big, round connector on it (looks pretty heavy-duty). Is it a good idea to use that?

Yep, plugging into a regular 13 amp socket is fine. Get a good extension cord if you need one!

You might get away with using a 13A socket on low settings, but it's risky, could trip the fuse or overheat. That welder really wants a 15A+ supply. For the garden setup, use heavy duty 2.5mm² outdoor cable. anyway, your extension reel could work if it's fully unwound and rated for 13A, but it's still pushing it.
