Choosing tank sizes for occasional cutting

Hey everyone, I usually do MIG and flux-cored welding. I'm thinking about using oxy/acetylene to cut up scrap metal and work on little steel things in my garage. I probably won't use it much, maybe a few times a month. What size tanks should I get for something like that?

Even a few times a month can vary from one situation to another, so I'd say maybe 75 to 100 for acetylene and 125 to 200 for oxygen, at least that's what I'd go for. You can get smaller tanks, but you'll need to refill them more frequently. One thing to know is that you'll always need more oxygen as you'll consume more of it.

In some state you have to lease larger bottles. If you are not using it all the time I would buy the largest with out needing a lease. The other issue with leased bottles is you can only get them fill by the company that they are leased from.

If you’re only planning to use it a few times a month for small garage projects, a smaller set of tanks is usually enough. The right size depends on how much cutting you’ll be doing and how long you want between refills. It’s also worth checking local supplier options, as tank ownership, rental, and exchange policies can vary.
