Beginner setup

Hi! I'm a welding newbie and looking for a good setup for a beginner. Mostly doing a lot of farm work, like fixing gates and stuff.

which one should i start with? MIG or ARC? need something reliable and not too costly. oh and something that works with an outdoor plug!

I would advise you to start with arc stick welding, considering you're into farm work and stull like that. It's cheap enough and it won't struggle for outdoor use. The best part is that you don't need shielding like with a mig welder. As for potential options, you have a plethora of options depending on your budget, but I would suggest not to go overboard since you're still learning and try to perfect your skills

I've done a bit of farm welding back in the day, I would suggest MIG for versatility and durability. The thing with farm welding is you'll prolly be working on lots of rust. You can start with 130-150 amp with a 30% duty cycle for starters to cover most of your farm welding jobs.
