80's millermatic 35 value?

is the blackface millermatic 35 still a good shot these days? i see some of them still valued at around $1000 - $1500 for these seasoned machines. any thoughts?

The millermatic 35 is still a good machine if you can find one in decent shape. For $1000–$1500, it's not a bad deal, especially for lighter work or hobby welding. If you're using it just for small jobs, it'll do the job fine, but if you need something for more regular or heavy-duty work, you might want to look into newer options.

The blackface Millermatic 35 is still respected for its transformer build and smooth arc but that price is only reasonable if it's been fully serviced and includes a working gun, regulator and cart. Many go for less unless they've had recent maintenance or upgrades like a spool gun adapter. Do you know if the one you're looking at has the original contactor and drive motor still running strong or has it been rebuilt?

millermatic 35s are pretty solid, simple enough that theres not much to break if theyre maintained okay. real question is the condition of this one though - id make sure it actually fires up and check for rust before spending anything.
