Worth buying an old Idealarc 250?

I've got the chance to grab an older Lincoln Idealarc 250 from a garage sale. It looks ok all in all, but seller said it hasn't been tested and no one knows if it works. It's a hit or miss I guess. It does the typical 300A AC / 250A DC, and I'm assuming it's been well cared for based on the rest of the inclusions. Unfortunately, my garage only has a 30A 230V circuit. I know these machines can pull a lot more, like maybe 50-80A at full tilt? Do you think I could get away with 110A output max before it trips? Also, with the age and unknown status, what would be a fair price? I don't mind fixing it up if needed.

Very tough machines but 30 amp circuit will limit your output. You'll probably trip the breaker attempting to weld much above 90 amps. For an untested unit the price should be very low to offset the risk of it needing major repair.

Since this one's untested, offering $300–$400 seems fair, especially if you're ready to do some repairs. Did it come with leads or a cart? That can add value too.

If it's in good shape and everything's included, a price between $150 and $300 seems reasonable. For a 30A circuit, you probably won't exceed about 110A output before you hit the trip limit.
