how to sop Vulcan hood flashing

I need some welding hood help!
I'm a novice welder, spending the last year trying to resurrect a rusty Jeep with tons of constant, short sheet metal tacking. My Vulcan ArcSafe helmet (this is the second one I've bought!) flashes me about half the time right at the start of the weld.

It's driving me crazy because I'm starting and stopping constantly, so I'm getting flashed constantly. My cheapest Harbor Freight helmet never did this!
I've replaced and cleaned the batteries and the sensors, but no luck, it seems like a design flaw.

Has anyone else dealt with this Vulcan flashing issue, or is it just me?

The delay at low amp starts can cause those flashes and cheaper HF helmets often have more sensitive sensors that trigger faster, ironicall. You could try increasing ambient light near the work or adjusting the sensitivity to max, but honestly, if you’ve already cleaned and swapped batteries, it’s likely just the helmet’s limitations

It’s not just you, I've heard this same thing in other places but lens like Miller Digital Elite or Lincoln Viking handles it much better

Yup, they’re fine for longer welds but not great for stop and start work

Well, you’re definitely not imagining it.

If you’ve already maxed sensitivity and it’s still flashing, that’s about the ceiling for that lens and a different hood may honestly save your eyes and sanity. I vote for a different hood. I wouldn't trade my peace of mind for just about anything these days.
