I found a Lincoln 140 on a garage sale for $420. Owner says it's barely used and comes with everything it came with when it was bought. is the 175 a good welder for a beginner and is $420 a fair price? saw these Lincoln 140 around the same price so not sure what to pick

The Lincoln 140 is great for beginners and works well with thin metal. At $420 for everything, it's a good deal. Do you have 120V/20A power? What projects are you thinking about? That will help you figure out if the 140 or the 175 is a better choice

Theyre both great welders, but it depends on what you need. The 140 is great for beginners, runs on standard 110V, and is portable. The 175 needs 220V but gives you more power for thicker material. At $420, either is a fair deal in my opinion, IF they're in good shape..

$420 for a barely-used Lincoln 140 sounds okay. For beginners, the 175 gives more power and flexibility, but the 140 is easier to handle. If you're just starting, either works, but the 175 might be overkill.
