exaust welding

i plan to weld my own exhaust, not the whole system just the plain pipes like from the downpipe to the backbox on an old scooter I've been torturing for years. if all goes well i might do something similar to my r6. my question is how big of a project do you think this would be and is it something an amateur like me can do? i have portamig 215

I've done mig welding on a few exausts and it's not as scary as it sounds, but there's ont small thing you shouldn't forget, preparation. You'll need to make sure you prepare every piece of metal where you weld to ensure you don't have to redo everything in a few days

If you've kept that scooter alive this long, might as well give it a custom exhaust lol, welding straight pipes isn't too crazy with your portamig 215, you just need to get the fitment right. Mild steel is easy, stainless takes more skill.
For the R6, that's next level, thin stainless and tight bends are tricky so nail the scooter first, then see if you're up for the challenge. worst case? louder scooter, good lesson haha
