Caught myself doing something stupid, I had a close call yesterday that I need to share. I was doing some overhead welding in the shop and I got hot slag down my shirt but instinct kicked in and I damn near ripped my helmet off while still under the arc. I caught myself but man, that was close to a face full of UV. Been welding 5 years and should know better, twas rushing to finish before end of day and skipped buttoning my collar, complacency at its fines
Just a reminder that we all get sloppy sometimes, especially when we're tired or behind schedule

Haha, end of day brain just isn't running the same safety checklist, appreciate you sharing it,
good reminder that experience doesn't make you immune to stupid

My very first time welding I got a little hot slag that landed and seared into the tear duct of my eye.
good thing it didn't make a serious lasting damage on my pretty face haha. from that day, I learned to never chop slag off without eyeprotection again

Appreciate you posting this. It’s an easy mistake to make when you’re tired and trying to wrap up the day. Little reminders like this probably save someone else from learning the hard way.
