Settle a debate for me. My welding friend just got a shop dog and believes it's the best decision he ever made, says the dog keeps him company, alerts him when someone pulls up, and supervises quality control.
Yes yes, sure sounds tempting but also wondering about the practical side not withstanding welding sparks, noise, fumes, tripping hazards. Is it actually a good idea or is he just making excuses to bring his dog to work?
Some of you might work in the garage and obviously let your dog in. But what do you think ?

Returning here after a long while and this particular thread appeals to me

I've had a dog for about five years now but I've been into welding stuff for like a year and half now and honestly it's great, but you gotta set it up right. My dog has a spot in the corner with a bed that's well away from the welding area. She knows to stay there when I'm actively working.

The company and the someone's here alert is genuinely worth it though
